All kimonos are one-of-a-kind. Even if the design is the same, different kimonos can feel like completely different designs. We hope you will find your own original, one-of-a-kind kimono.

Production usually takes approximately two months.

The production period may vary depending on the design and our order volume.

Detailed scheduling will be explained during consultation.

This is not a fabric sales page.

It introduces example fabrics used in the custom-made works of wa studio KIWA.

At the fabric selection stage, it is not necessary to have a specific item in mind.

We will guide you on what kind of garments can be created from each fabric, together with suitable design suggestions.

About the Photographs

The photos shown are images of actual sections of the fabric.

Please use them as a reference for pattern placement, color tones, and texture.

Some fabrics may not be displayed in their original kimono form.

These images are intended to help you understand the fabric as a material for clothing.

Care and Handling

  • Dry cleaning is recommended to maintain the shape and texture
  • Care methods may vary depending on the design and fabric condition
  • Detailed instructions will be provided during the production process

  • Pattern placement and color tones may vary from piece to piece
  • Depending on the condition of the fabric, adjustments to the design or production details may be suggested

2. View the Design

Will the finished piece look exactly the same as the photos?

The photos shown are examples of past custom-made works.

For actual orders, each garment is tailored to match the kimono fabric you select.

Even with the same design, the overall impression will vary from piece to piece depending on the fabric’s pattern, color, and material.

The fabrics used in the photos are examples only.

For your order, we can work with:

  • Kimono fabrics displayed on the “1. View Kimono Fabrics” page
  • Kimono fabrics provided by the customer

If you are unsure about fabric selection, please feel free to consult with us.

We can also advise which kimono fabrics are suitable for each design.

Notes

  • The listed price covers tailoring only; the kimono fabric cost is not included
  • If you have any optional requests or custom specifications, please let us know when ordering

How to Take Measurements

What You Will Need

  • Waist belt (something that can be wrapped around the waist)

What to Wear

Wear a lightweight tank top and pants over the underwear you normally wear with everyday clothing.

Preparation for Measuring

Step 1: Attach Stickers (3 Points)

・Left and right SP (Shoulder Points)

・BNP (Back Neck Point)

Step 2: Put on the Waist Belt

Fasten the waist belt around your waist at the narrowest part of your torso.

Reference

※SP (Shoulder Point):

The point at the boundary between the shoulder and arm, around where the shoulder bone slightly protrudes.

※BNP (Back Neck Point):

The point where the center back line meets the neckline, around the small bone that slightly protrudes when you bend your neck forward.

How to Take Measurements

Waist:
Measure around the narrowest part of your waist (natural waist).
Measure at the position where the waist belt is placed.

Hips:
Measure around the fullest part of your hips, keeping the tape level.
If your abdomen protrudes or your thighs are well developed,
measure around the widest area.

Back Shoulder Width:
Measure the distance between the left and right shoulder points,
passing through the back neck point.

Back Length:
Measure from the back neck point to the center of the waist belt.

Hip Length:
Measure from the waist belt to the hip line.

Sleeve Length:
Measure from the shoulder point to the wrist bone.
Slightly bend your elbow and follow the natural curve of the arm with the measuring tape.
